Soft Actuation over Cooperating Objects Middleware Overview The project concerned the integration of ...

The project concerned the integration of the POBICOS middleware with the SmartSantander Internet-of-Things testbed in the Guildford SmartCampus of the University of Surrey. Experiments were performed to determine the latency and scalability of the system. Also, a new approach for user interaction, called “soft-actuation”, was proposed and evaluated via an application that issues-low-key hints to the user prompting her/him to perform simple actuation actions, instead of actuating directly. The application was deployed in Guildford and run continuously for over 5 weeks.
